Uganda Police Truck Filmed Ferrying NRM Supporters To NRM Rally – Gives Allowances

As Uganda edges closer to the highly anticipated 2026 General Elections, the conduct of the Uganda Police Force has come under sharp public scrutiny. Critics, opposition figures, and hundreds of online commentators accuse the police of exhibiting open bias and acting in a partisan manner as they enforce electoral guidelines issued by the Electoral Commission, along with other laws governing public assemblies and campaign activities.

Throughout the campaign trail, multiple incidents have fueled allegations of unequal treatment. Uganda Police has been seen forcing several opposition candidates to trek long, winding routes through remote village paths just to access their designated campaign venues.

Meanwhile, the NRM flag bearer, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, reportedly moves with ease along major highways—raising questions about whether the enforcement of traffic and security guidelines is being applied selectively.

Tension has risen even further following a sweeping police ban on campaign processions. In many cases, this ban has been enforced with force—tear gas, bullets, and violent confrontations between officers and supporters of opposition parties have been reported.

Yet, contrasting images have emerged showing the same police force clearing the way for processions organized by NRM supporters.

In what many view as one of the clearest signs of preferential treatment, police have repeatedly deployed more than ten patrol trucks to closely track the movements of opposition leader Bobi Wine wherever he campaigns, especially during his ongoing tour of Buganda.

One of the most widely circulated examples was captured by Daily Monitor and posted on December 1, 2025:

“EARLIER: @NRMOnline make a procession to Boma Grounds in Mbarara City, where their party presidential candidate, @KagutaMuseveni, is expected to hold his campaign rally this afternoon. #MonitorUpdates #UgandaDecides2026 – Julius Byamukama” — Daily Monitor (@DailyMonitor)

Despite the police’s official stance on banning processions, such scenes have become increasingly common—and increasingly controversial.

Adding to the fire, a new video making rounds on social media today shows a Uganda Police truck directly ferrying NRM supporters to a campaign rally where President Museveni is set to address voters in Mbarara City. The footage has sparked a storm of debate online, with many Ugandans questioning whether state security agencies are still acting within their constitutional mandate or have become an extension of the ruling party’s campaign machinery.

As the election draws nearer, these mounting episodes continue to widen the divide between authorities and sections of the public who feel the political field is being tilted. Whether the police will address these concerns remains to be seen, but for now, the controversy only intensifies.
