RIP!! Famous MP Dies After Car Crashes Into Elephant

Zimbabwe has been thrown into mourning following the tragic death of Member of Parliament Desire “Moyoxide” Moyo, who died instantly after his vehicle collided with an elephant late Thursday evening. The horrifying accident occurred as Moyo and four other lawmakers were returning from Parliament.

According to reports from the state broadcaster ZBC, the vehicle hit the elephant on a dark stretch of road. In a violent reaction, the enraged animal turned around and attacked the car, crushing the top right side of the vehicle. Witnesses described the scene as terrifying, with the elephant’s sheer strength leaving the pickup truck completely wrecked.

Fellow passengers — Madalaboy Ndebele, Senator Rittah Ndlovu, Sethulo Ndebele, and Libion Sibanda — sustained severe injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they remain in critical condition. Moyo, however, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Luveve MP Discent Bajila confirmed Moyo’s death and revealed that his family had already been informed. He recounted details from survivor Madalaboy Ndebele, who said the accident happened too quickly for the driver to react. “They hit the elephant on its backside, and the animal turned and fought the vehicle,” Bajila explained. “That attack is what caused the worst damage and led to Moyo’s fatal injuries.”

The tragic news has sparked an outpouring of grief across Zimbabwe, especially in Moyo’s home city of Bulawayo. The City Council of Bulawayo, in a heartfelt message, praised the late MP for his courage and contributions.

“Moyo positively impacted the city through his leadership and poetry. He protested against injustice and worked tirelessly for the development of the city and the country,” said Mayor David Coltart in a statement.

Moyo, who was about to celebrate his 46th birthday, was a first-term legislator, a poet, and a former educator. Supporters and colleagues remember him as a passionate voice for equality and progress — a man who used both words and action to inspire change.

This tragic accident comes amid renewed concern over road safety and wildlife encounters in rural parts of Zimbabwe, where elephants often wander near highways. Authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution, especially at night.

Meanwhile, just days after Moyo’s death, another shocking video from Botswana’s Okavango Delta surfaced online, showing a furious elephant attacking tourists on a canoe trip.

The massive creature charged through the water, overturning canoes and nearly trampling a woman. The chilling footage has reignited discussions about human-wildlife conflict across Southern Africa.

As the nation mourns the loss of Desire Moyo, tributes continue to pour in from colleagues, friends, and citizens. His death serves as a painful reminder of how fragile life can be — and how even the most peaceful journeys can turn tragic in an instant
