Get ready for a spectacular celebration as the Ugandan Embassy in the Democratic Republic of Congo gears up to commemorate Uganda’s 62nd Independence Day!

On November 1, 2024, at 6:00 pm, the luxurious Kempinski Fleuve Congo Hotel will host this momentous occasion, themed “A Recommitment to Secure and Fortify our Destiny.”

This theme perfectly aligns with the embassy’s vision of “A Secure Uganda and a Prosperous People” and its mission to promote and protect Uganda’s national interests. The event promises to unite Ugandans and friends of Uganda, reflecting on the country’s remarkable journey since gaining independence on October 9, 1962.

Uganda’s path to independence was uniquely paved through diplomatic negotiations, rather than armed conflict. The Lancaster Conference in England played a pivotal role, with delegates from Uganda, Britain, and other stakeholders engaging in intense discussions.

Interestingly, October 9 was chosen as Independence Day, attributed by some to Kabaka Muteesa I of Buganda’s death anniversary, while others see it as the culmination of the Lancaster Conference.

As Uganda celebrates 62 years of independence, the embassy’s event reaffirms its commitment to strong relations between Uganda and the DRC and promoting Ugandan interests abroad. This milestone honors Uganda’s resilience, progress, and determination to build a brighter future.

Join the Ugandan Embassy in DRC as they commemorate this significant event, fostering continued cooperation and friendship between the two nations.
