In Kenya today getting a nice job after graduating is always some hard task as a lot of youths find themselves with no jobs after a lot of years of job search. To Michael(not his real name) 29 year old, having a nice job after campus was his dream but just after graduating, nothing really worked his way.
He really went through a hell life something that made him enter into crime. “At times I would go hungry as I had no got something to put into my stomach. Getting the mere handy jobs were also connections as I would hardly get them,” he said.
With all this experience, he decided to join a certain criminal group in the area he used to live in Githurai. The group would always steal people’s motorbikes which they would either sell for cheaper price after they were refurbished, something he says he never; lacked something to eat.
He said he lied to his close relatives that he had a nice job in Nairobi each time they wanted to know his endeavors. He added that criminal life was not his thing as he knew well all the consequences but he had no option at that particular time.
At one time one of their gang members was shot to death but that did not change him as he was compulsively radicalized to be in crime. Something he says he would never forget is when they stole a motorbike from a boda boda.To read more, tap here
