Chaos has rocked the National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries in Hoima District following shocking revelations of alleged electoral malpractice.

The Hoima District Security Committee has now ordered the immediate arrest of Joseph Kutegeka, the NRM Registrar, after he reportedly made double declarations of winners in the Buyaga County race.

According to eyewitnesses and local leaders, Kutegeka announced two different individuals as winners of the same parliamentary flag bearer position, sparking confusion and outrage among party supporters.

Tensions flared as rival factions clashed, each claiming legitimate victory. The situation quickly escalated, forcing the security committee to intervene.

Authorities stated that the registrar’s actions undermined the integrity of the party’s internal electoral process. “We cannot tolerate such acts of dishonesty.
The law must take its course,” said one senior official during the committee’s emergency session.

Security operatives have been dispatched to locate and apprehend Kutegeka, who is believed to have gone into hiding.

The incident has further fueled concerns about fairness and transparency within the ruling party, especially as it prepares for the 2026 general elections.

Party members from Buyaga County are now demanding a repeat of the primaries, insisting that the truth must prevail and the rightful candidate be declared without manipulation.

As the drama unfolds, many Ugandans are left questioning how such blatant irregularities could go unchecked in a party that prides itself on discipline and unity. The NRM Secretariat is yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
