Nixon Agasirwe Sentenced!! Here’s Why Ex IGP Kayihura Is Allegedly In Panic As Fresh Investigations On 4 Murder Scenes Start Afresh

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nixon Agasirwe, a once influential and controversial figure in the Uganda Police Force, has found himself on the wrong side of the law after being remanded to Luzira Prison.

His remand follows serious allegations linking him to the brutal assassination of Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, Joan Kagezi—an event that sent shockwaves across Uganda and drew international attention.

Joan Kagezi was gunned down in March 2015 in a shocking ambush while driving with her children in Kiwatule, a Kampala suburb.

She was known for her fearless pursuit of justice, particularly in high-profile terrorism and corruption cases.

Her death not only left a vacuum in the justice system but also sparked a prolonged search for her killers, with pressure mounting on authorities to find those responsible.

Agasirwe’s name had long been associated with secretive police operations during his tenure, especially under the leadership of former Inspector General of Police, Gen. Kale Kayihura.

He was regarded as part of the inner circle that ran covert missions, some of which have since been criticized for human rights violations and unaccountable actions.

His current remand raises troubling questions about how deeply embedded such criminal elements may have been in the upper echelons of Uganda’s law enforcement.

The revelation of his alleged involvement has revived public interest in unresolved cases and ignited debates over accountability within the police force.

The development also casts a renewed spotlight on Gen. Kale Kayihura, who was previously sanctioned by the United States over human rights concerns during his time as IGP.

While Kayihura has not been directly linked to Kagezi’s murder, the close working relationship between him and Agasirwe has drawn scrutiny.

Many Ugandans and political observers are now questioning whether Kayihura himself may face renewed legal challenges, depending on the direction the investigation takes.

Legal analysts say Agasirwe’s case could be a gateway to uncovering deeper conspiracies and long-suppressed truths within the security apparatus.

As the trial unfolds, attention is now focused on whether the justice system will be allowed to work independently and uncover the full truth behind one of Uganda’s most high-profile assassinations.

With Agasirwe behind bars awaiting trial, the country watches closely to see whether more high-ranking officials could be implicated, and whether justice for Joan Kagezi will finally be delivered.
