Geoffrey Kamuntu, a prominent businessman in Uganda’s oil sector, is the former husband of Diana Museveni, the youngest daughter of President Yoweri Museveni. The couple officially ended their 18-year marriage in 2022, but the news became public in 2024.
Diana and Kamuntu’s love story began in 2004 when they met at her sister Natasha Karugire’s house. Diana spoke fondly of her first impression of Kamuntu, describing him as “tall and handsome,” and their bond quickly led to marriage. Together, they were blessed with three children: two boys and one girl.
Kamuntu built a strong reputation in Uganda’s business circles, running a procurement firm that provides consultancy services to oil exploration companies in the Albertine region. He is also linked to Heritage Oil Company, cementing his status as a key player in the country’s oil sector.
Despite their seemingly solid foundation, their marriage reportedly grew strained over time. Sources close to the couple suggest that the demands of their respective careers created distance between them.
With Kamuntu’s busy business engagements and Diana’s personal commitments, the two reportedly spent long periods apart, leading to speculation about their relationship.
By 2022, Diana formally applied to the National Identification Registration Authority (NIRA) to drop Kamuntu’s name, a decision that signaled the official end of their union.
The move came after years of reportedly living separate lives, with both choosing to focus on their individual paths.
While the exact reasons for the divorce remain unclear, sources say their careers and growing differences played a significant role. Asked whether Diana is currently seeing someone else, sources close to her neither confirmed nor denied, but mentioned she is now focused on business and prayer.
Kamuntu, on the other hand, remains fully engaged in his oil sector ventures.
