As the 2026 elections draw near, Hajji Kasirye Nganda Mulyanyama has emerged as a formidable force in the race for Lord Mayor of Kampala. With the backing of the National Unity Platform (NUP) Party, Buganda Kingdom, and the Muslim community, Mulyanyama is poised to take the reins from incumbent Lord Mayor, Lukwago.

Mulyanyama’s journey to this point began when he declared his intention to run for Lord Mayor, making him the first to do so within the NUP ¹. His influence, dubbed “Kakuyege,” has spread across Kampala, putting Lukwago on notice.

However, Lukwago’s camp has not taken Mulyanyama’s challenge lightly. He was suspended from the KCCA FC Board on what many consider trumped-up charges, and Lukwago’s allies have attempted to tarnish Mulyanyama’s reputation.

Despite these obstacles, Mulyanyama remains undeterred.A skilled navigator of Uganda’s complex politics, Mulyanyama has demonstrated his ability to withstand mudslinging and come out on top. Born in Katwe Ghettos, he has earned the respect of the Kifeesi youth, who see him as a hustler and a leader.

Mulyanyama’s commitment to his community is evident in his charitable endeavors. He has supported Nsambya Babies Home and the Good Samaritan Sisters – Nalukolongo Bakateyamba, demonstrating his compassion and dedication to the welfare of Kampala’s residents.

As Mulyanyama prepares for the 2026 elections, he has been reaching out to opinion leaders, cultural institutions, and religious leaders, including His Eminence Emanuel Cardinal Wamala. His loyalty to NUP President Kyagulanyi and the party has been unwavering, and he has joined Kyagulanyi on national tours, acting as his guard.

The Kibuli Muslim sect has also warmly embraced Hajji Kasirye Nganda Mulyanyama, citing his unwavering support and solidarity. Mulyanyama has consistently stood with the sect through thick and thin, attending key events and offering guidance. His commitment to the Muslim community’s welfare has earned him respect and admiration.
