Formerly the steadfast Executive Secretary of the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), Mathew Bukenya, has passed away at the age of 90, according to reports this morning.
The announcement of his demise was made by UNEB, with spokesperson Jenifer Kalule expressing deep sorrow over his loss. Bukenya held the position of Executive Secretary from April 1995 to April 2016.
Bukenya, originally an accountant at UNEB, was called back from retirement to assume leadership following the dismissal of David Livingstone Ongom during a period of exam malpractice scrutiny. He was succeeded by his deputy, Daniel Nokrach Odongo, upon retirement.
