Four individuals have been apprehended by a joint security team in connection with the kidnapping and murder of women along Entebbe road.
This development follows the gruesome discovery of five bodies dumped in the Kajjansi swamps along the Kampala-Entebbe road. According to police reports, the group operated in Kajjansi, targeting female passengers commuting to work.
They would kidnap, rob, and strangle them to death, before disposing of their bodies in the nearby swamps.The police have identified the suspects as Abbas Katongole, Ronald Matovu, both conductors, and Herbert Turyashemererwa and Isaac Nuwagaba.
The latter is believed to be the gang leader and driver of the taxi used in these illegal operations, registered as UAU 737T. Fred Enanga, Police Spokesperson, revealed that the suspects are highly linked to the kidnap and murder of five female passengers between March and May 2024.
Enanga noted that Nuwagaba, the gang leader, was arrested in a hideout in Rukiga district, where several exhibits belonging to the deceased were found in his possession.
The arrests are a significant breakthrough in the investigation, and the police are working to ensure that justice is served for the victims and their families.
The operation is ongoing to apprehend any additional suspects and dismantle the criminal network.
