President Museveni Gives Ugandan Youths A Wake-Up Call: “Start Working , Have Vision And Stop Chasing Foreign Dreams”

In a bold message delivered on Labor Day, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni challenged Ugandans to stop lamenting about a lack of jobs and start seizing opportunities at home.  Museveni delivered this message on Labor Day at the St Leos College Kyegobe Grounds in Fort-Portal, Uganda.

Speaking to a gathering of citizens, workers, and leaders, he emphasized the need for Ugandans to shift their mindset and take advantage of the numerous opportunities available in the country. The President asserted that Uganda is not poor and that the problem is not a lack of jobs, but rather a lack of vision among citizens.

If people utilized Uganda’s arable land effectively for wealth creation through agriculture, those children who work abroad for the Arabs would no longer need to go there. The jobs are here!Therefore, I advise the Labour unions to prioritize creating avenues for wealth creation when advocating for jobs. Jobs come from wealth, you cannot have jobs without wealth.bJobs are there, but our people lack vision,” President Museveni declared at the St Leos College Kyegobe Grounds in Fort-Portal.

“Countries that don’t have jobs are countries that are poor. Uganda is not poor. The problem here is lack of vision.”

The President’s message comes as thousands of Ugandan youths travel abroad each year in search of better employment opportunities, often facing exploitation and difficult working conditions. President Museveni urged these young people to stay and build a future at home, where he says opportunities abound.

“Please, stop wasting my time with excuses about lack of jobs. All the children that are going to work for the Arabs shouldn’t be going there because the jobs are here,” he emphasized.

The President’s call to action has sparked a lively debate among Ugandans, with many agreeing that it’s time to tap into the country’s vast resources and untapped potential. Others have criticized the government for not doing enough to create jobs and stimulate economic growth.B
