Muhoozi Kainerugaba Has The Qualities To Stand For Presidency But These Two Things Will Never Allow Him To Make It

A rumor that emerged a decade ago is now materializing into reality, with retired Gen David Munungu Tinyefuza, also known as Sejusa, initially disclosing that Gen. Museveni was grooming his son, Gen. Muhoozi, as Uganda’s next president.

Sejusa’s revelation stirred controversy, leading to his self-imposed exile in the United Kingdom, where he alleged a plot to assassinate military officials opposed to the so-called “Muhoozi Project.”

However, senior military figures like Gen Edward Katumba Wamala and Gen Aronda Nyakairima dismissed Sejusa’s claims as baseless, with Gen Edward Kale Kayihura even threatening legal action against him.

Despite Sejusa’s allegations of being a target himself, he has returned to Uganda unharmed and continues to live peacefully.Fast forward to the present, Gen Kainerugaba Muhoozi, now the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), faces only a couple of remaining challenges on his path to the presidency.

Despite initially denying presidential ambitions, Gen Muhoozi has acknowledged the support he received from those urging him to run for office.

President Museveni has openly acknowledged Muhoozi’s potential succession and even touted his ability to combat corruption. Muhoozi possesses the necessary qualifications and support to become Uganda’s next president, with the only obstacle being divine intervention or his father’s refusal to step down.

Short of these scenarios, Muhoozi’s path to the presidency seems clear, backed by the military, his father, and key state institutions.

Barring unforeseen circumstances, it’s difficult to envision anything hindering his ascension to the State House, unless Ugandan voters follow the example of their counterparts in Senegal.
