Musician Cinderella Sanyu, renowned as Cindy, finds herself in an ongoing conflict with Kenzo’s federation, with no resolution in sight after nearly a year of discord.

Cindy recently shared her experience of a meeting organized by Salim Saleh, aiming to facilitate discussions among artist leaders, including representatives from UNMF and UMA.

However, during the meeting, Cindy faced humiliation as UNMF musicians disavowed her leadership and claimed ignorance of her role. They alleged that she was unreachable, with her phones frequently off when needed.

Expressing her embarrassment, Cindy recounted how the UNMF musicians reneged on agreements made just a day prior to the meeting. “I really felt embarrassed because these guys said they don’t know me as a leader of musicians and revealed I am unreachable… that my phones are always off when needed. Imagine we met with them a day before the meeting and agreed on a few things but denied all that when we reached there,” she shared in an interview with a local YouTuber.

Despite the setback, Cindy found solace in the counsel of General Kayanja, who encouraged her to persevere and make tough decisions for the betterment of the industry.

The Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) plays a crucial role in advocating for the rights and interests of musicians across the country. Firstly, UMA serves as a collective voice for musicians, representing their concerns and aspirations to government bodies, industry stakeholders, and the public. Through lobbying efforts and engagement with policymakers, UMA strives to create a conducive environment for the growth and development of the music industry.

Secondly, UMA provides support and resources to its members, ranging from legal assistance to professional development opportunities. By offering workshops, training sessions, and networking events, UMA empowers musicians with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in their careers.

Additionally, UMA works to promote unity and collaboration within the music community. By fostering a sense of solidarity among musicians, UMA aims to address common challenges and pursue collective goals for the advancement of the industry.

Moreover, UMA plays a role in preserving and promoting Ugandan musical heritage. Through initiatives such as cultural preservation projects and music education programs, UMA seeks to celebrate the rich diversity of Uganda’s musical traditions and ensure their continued relevance and vitality in the modern era.

Overall, the Uganda Musicians Association serves as a vital organization dedicated to advocating for the rights, welfare, and advancement of musicians in Uganda, while also preserving the country’s musical heritage for future generations.
