City Pastor Robert Kayanja has found himself embroiled in a bitter feud with his counterpart, Pastor Jackson Ssenyonga of Christian Life Church in Bwaise, as verbal attacks and accusations fly between the two religious figures.
The longstanding animosity between Ssenyonga and Kayanja has escalated, with each hurling accusations of homosexuality and exploitation of young boys at the other. Kayanja, in particular, expresses bewilderment at Ssenyonga’s incessant derogatory remarks about him and his congregation.
“This isn’t the first time he’s made such baseless allegations; it’s been ongoing, and he seems to target everyone,” lamented Pastor Kayanja, highlighting the persistent nature of Ssenyonga’s attacks.
Interestingly, despite the public spectacle of their feud, neither pastor has sought legal recourse to address the defamation and slanderous accusations exchanged between them, reflecting a trend where disputes among religious leaders often remain confined to verbal sparring rather than legal action.
Pastor Robert Kayanja, a prominent figure in Uganda’s religious landscape, was born on April 25, 1960, in Kampala, Uganda. Raised in a devout Christian family, Kayanja’s early life was marked by a strong spiritual influence, laying the foundation for his future calling as a pastor and evangelist.
Kayanja’s journey into ministry began in the 1980s when he experienced a profound spiritual awakening that led him to dedicate his life to spreading the Gospel. In 1983, he founded Miracle Centre Cathedral in Kampala, which would become one of the largest and most influential churches in Uganda. Under his leadership, Miracle Centre Cathedral grew rapidly, attracting thousands of followers with its dynamic worship services and emphasis on faith healing and deliverance.
As his ministry expanded, Kayanja gained widespread recognition for his charismatic preaching style and emphasis on personal transformation through faith. He became known for his large-scale evangelistic events, which drew massive crowds and garnered attention both locally and internationally.
Beyond his work in the church, Kayanja has been actively involved in humanitarian efforts and social initiatives aimed at addressing the needs of the less fortunate in Ugandan society. Through his organization, the Robert Kayanja Ministries, he has spearheaded various community development projects, including initiatives focused on education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation.
Throughout his career, Pastor Robert Kayanja has faced both praise and criticism, with some lauding his efforts to bring about spiritual revival and social change, while others have raised concerns about certain practices within his ministry. Despite the challenges, Kayanja remains steadfast in his commitment to spreading the message of hope and redemption through his preaching and outreach efforts, leaving a lasting impact on the religious landscape of Uganda.
