Kampala’s Deputy Lord Mayor, Doreen Nyanjura, has joyously welcomed the arrival of her newborn daughter, whom she has named Rena. Throughout her pregnancy, Nyanjura gracefully juggled her duties, maintaining a low profile despite the anticipation surrounding her maternity.
Nyanjura’s journey to motherhood was not merely a personal milestone but also a resolution she ardently pursued for the year 2023. Dr. Besigye, extending his heartfelt congratulations via social media, celebrated Nyanjura’s achievement in fulfilling her third New Year’s resolution.
A prominent member of the FDC, Nyanjura aligns herself with the Katonga faction, under the leadership of Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, situated at Katonga Road alongside Dr. Kiiza Besigye. Her appointment as Lukwago’s Deputy on June 18, 2020, marked a significant step in her political career, succeeding Sarah Kanyike, who defected from DP to the ruling party. Despite Kanyike’s subsequent appointment as Minister for the elderly by Museveni, she found herself sidelined within his cabinet in 2021.
