In the peaceful district of Mbarara lies the distinguished Nsambya Hillside-Western Campus, a beacon of academic excellence that has once again proven its mettle in the recently unveiled Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) results.

The authoritative release of the UACE examinations came from none other than Janet Kataha Museveni, the venerable Minister of Education and Sports, held at the regal State House Entebbe, underscoring the significance of this academic milestone.

As per the meticulous data provided by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), a noteworthy cohort of 110,553 candidates undertook the 2023 UACE examination across 2,102 centers. Impressively, 80,643 candidates achieved success, securing eligibility for admission into various esteemed universities, while 996 faced the challenge of not meeting the required standards.

A striking revelation from the results is the stellar performance of female students, outshining their male counterparts. The percentage of upper-level passes, encompassing three and two principal passes, is notably higher among female students, with a commendable decrease in lower-level passes and failure rates compared to their male counterparts.

Delving into the specifics of the UACE outcomes, 46 students participated in the examinations, with the majority attaining scores ranging from 16 to 20 points. Noteworthy is the breakdown of this group, comprising 28 boys and 18 girls, who demonstrated exceptional proficiency in science subjects, with a prevalent ‘A’ grade in mathematics, physics, entrepreneurship, and other disciplines.

Individual excellence in science subjects was highlighted with notable performers such as Kyasiimire Shibah, Kyatuhaire Joan, and Bigirwaruhanga Antony, all achieving impressive scores.

Reflecting on the remarkable achievement, Namara Chloe, the Director of Nsambya Hillside, attributed the success to a culmination of factors, including the dedication of experienced and qualified teachers, the students’ aptitude for learning, and the unwavering support from parents. The collaborative efforts of parents were underscored as a pivotal factor, providing essential learning materials and scholastic resources, thereby contributing to the overall success.

Chloe proudly declared Nsambya Hillside’s standout performance, not just in the current year but as a consistent trend over the past decade. The school has consistently outshone prominent institutions, including Ntare School, Maryhill High School, St. Joseph’s Vocational School, and Mbarara High School, establishing itself as a paragon of academic excellence in the western region and beyond.

In a related triumph, Nsambya Hillside emerged as the top-ranking school in science subjects for the 2023 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations. The school’s supremacy extended to being the best in Mbarara and excelling in subjects such as mathematics and biology on a national scale, triumphing over formidable competitors like Seeta High School, Uganda Martyrs SS, Namugongo, and Namilyango College. This resounding success further solidifies Nsambya Hillside’s position as an educational institution of unparalleled distinction.
