The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) officially declared on Wednesday, March 6, that the long-awaited results for the 2023 Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) will be out soon.
Scheduled to be disclosed by the distinguished Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni, who also holds the esteemed position of First Lady, the release of the 2023 UACE results is a momentous occasion for the candidates who undertook the final set of national examinations from November 10 to December 1, 2023.
Anticipating this revelation, it is crucial to acknowledge that the outcomes for the 2023 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) were previously unveiled on Thursday, February 15, at the State House in Nakasero, Kampala.
During the presentation of the 2023 UCE results, the Executive Director of the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), Dan Odongo, disclosed a notable increase in candidature by 15,008 (4.3%) from 349,459 in 2022 to 364,469 in 2023. The examination took place at 3,808 different centers across the country.
Among the candidates, 32.5% (118,633) were beneficiaries of the Universal Secondary Education (USE) program. The male candidates accounted for 49.5% (180,471), while the female candidates constituted 50.5% (183,998).
Odongo highlighted that the overall performance in the 2023 examination surpassed that of the previous year, accompanied by a 0.5% decrease in the failure rate. Consequently, 95.9% (329,939) of the learners who participated in the 2023 examination are eligible to progress to the post-UCE level.
Analyzing the specific subject performance, the 2023 UCE results indicated a noteworthy achievement for female candidates in the English Language. Conversely, male candidates demonstrated superior performance in subjects such as History, Geography, Science, and Commerce, showcasing significant disparities in these areas compared to their female counterparts.
