Popular businessman Jonathan Kirasha, a prominent figure hailing from Muhanga Town Council in Rukiga District, breathed his last on a somber Monday morning at the distinguished Platinum Hospital in Kampala.

The son, Kirasha, conveyed the news, revealing that his father succumbed to multiple organ failure after a prolonged battle with kidney complications spanning three years.

Scheduled for a dignified farewell, Jonathan Kirasha is set to be laid to rest on Thursday at his ancestral home in Kandago village, Nyamishenyi Parish, Rukiga District, following a poignant funeral service at Kandago Church of Uganda.

Originating from Muhanga Town Council in Rukiga District, Kirasha made indelible marks in real estate in Kabale and Kampala, grain business, transportation, and even ventured into the bus industry, owning JK Coaches in the late 1990s, along with a fleet of trailers.

Moses Mwongyera Kamuntu, the Rubanda West Member of Parliament, lauds Kirasha’s exemplary role in nurturing fellow businesses, particularly in his native Muhanga, Rukiga District. This stands in stark contrast to the affluent who often prioritize individual wealth over communal prosperity.

Wealth accumulation and its sustained legacy until the moment of one’s passing were hallmarks of Kirasha’s life. In a society where many exhaust their riches during illness or aging, Kirasha left a lasting example by ensuring a continued legacy for his children.

Roland Bish Ndyomugyenyi, the Rukiga County Member of Parliament, reflects on Kirasha’s unmatched legacy as a savvy entrepreneur, describing him as a stalwart pillar not only in Kigezi but also in Uganda at large. The loss of Kirasha follows closely on the heels of the demise of Apollo Nyegamahe Aponye, adding a layer of sorrow to the community.

Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, the Former Prime Minister, pays a glowing tribute to the departed businessman, portraying him as an iconic figure and a vital force in the business realm. Kirasha’s altruism extended to promoting others, reminiscent of the late Apollo Nyegamahe Aponye, earning him accolades for his generous contributions.

Dr. Rugunda notes Kirasha’s political journey, originally aligned with UPC but later transitioning to NRM, utilizing his strength to further the party’s cause. Born on March 30th, 1947, in Kandago village, Nyamishenyi Parish, Rukiga District, Kirasha’s life serves as a testament to the enduring impact one can have on both business and community.
