Singer Adam Mulwana Dies After Suffering From A Strange Illness

In today’s headlines, Adam Mulwana, the renowned singer associated with the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), has unfortunately passed away following an extended health struggle. Mulwana gained fame with his iconic track “Toka Kwa Bala Bala,” which served as Dr. Kizza Besigye’s signature tune during the 2016 general election and continued to resonate at various FDC events.

His prolonged illness prompted numerous visits from prominent political figures, particularly those from the opposition, who expressed concern and support at his residence in Luwero.

The reports indicate that Mulwana grappled with complications related to his liver, attributing them to alleged poisoning. Sadly, the singer breathed his last at Doctor’s Hospital in Seguku, a suburb of Kampala, according to sources, including figures from the Opposition.

Mulwana, who rose to prominence during the 2016 General Elections with the anthem ‘Toka Kwa Barabara,’ has left a void in the music and political spheres. The Swahili phrase, translating to ‘get out of the way,’ became a symbolic song for the Opposition Forum for Democratic Change and Dr. Kizza Besigye as they made their fourth attempt to challenge President Museveni through democratic means.

Over the course of the past two years, Mulwana battled illness, openly stating last year that he believed he had been poisoned. ‘Toka Kwa Barabara’ not only rivaled President Museveni’s 2011 campaign song but also became an integral part of FDC’s musical arsenal.

As the song climbed the campaign music charts, Mulwana found himself navigating a complex landscape of both fame and paranoia. His constant relocations reflected a heightened sense of vigilance, fueled by concerns that he was under surveillance by security operatives.
