Bukoto South Member of Parliament, Twaha Kagabo, and Njeru Municipality MP, Jimmy Lwanga, both hailing from the National Unity Platform (NUP) opposition party, have publicly declared their allegiance to General Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s latest venture, the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), previously recognized as the MK movement.

Addressing a sizable crowd gathered at Saddler Lane in Naguru, a suburb of Kampala during the PLU launch, Kagabo affirmed, “I am an active member of the MK movement, a supporter of the NRM party, and in the near future, I intend to join PLU. This decision is influenced by my ongoing evaluations within PLU.” He expressed reservations about continuing his political journey with NUP, dismissing it as a group of unsuccessful individuals incapable of political victories.

Similarly, Lwanga voiced his endorsement for PLU, declaring, “While I entered parliament under the NUP banner, today marks a realization from a dream to reality.” He stressed the importance of ensuring continued services for his constituency through PLU and conveyed confidence in General Muhoozi’s leadership.

Michael Mawanda, a central committee member and Igara County MP, clarified that PLU operates as a non-partisan, non-denominational, and non-sectarian organization. Contrary to some perceptions that the MK movement was solely General Muhoozi’s personal endeavor, Mawanda emphasized its foundation on principles beyond any individual, with the initials MK symbolizing Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

The PLU launch witnessed the official endorsement of various ministers, including Godfrey Baluku Kabbyanga, the Minister of State for National Guidance; Frank Tumwebaze, Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries; Harriet Ntabazi, State Minister for Trade; Margaret Muhanga, State Minister for Primary Healthcare; Haruna Kasolo Kyeyune, State Minister for Microfinance; and Diana Mutasingwa Kagyenyi, Minister of State in the Office of the Vice President of Uganda.
