In breaking news, the MK Movement, formerly associated with Museveni’s son and presidential advisor on special operations, Gen Muhoozi Keinerugaba, has undergone a significant transformation, rebranding itself as the Patriotic League of Uganda.

The group not only altered its name but also revamped its logo, replacing Muhoozi’s photo with a powerful lion while retaining the distinctive Yellow color reminiscent of the NRM, where the majority of their supporters are derived.

In a public announcement, Igara East MP Michael Mawanda, a member of Muhoozi’s Central Committee, disclosed that they have shifted from a pressure group advocating for Muhoozi’s presidency to establishing themselves as a civic organization.

“We hereby establish ourselves as a civic organization and embrace a new name and identity, the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU). Our primary goal is to work towards uniting Ugandans, fostering a sense of God-given citizenship, national pride, public service, combating corruption, preventing wastage of public resources, and safeguarding the environment,” Mawanda revealed.

Interestingly, unlike Bobi Wine’s People Power pressure group, which evolved into a political party, MK Movement has chosen the path of transforming into a civic organization for now. However, speculation arises that they might eventually rebrand into a political party as the election season approaches.

Operating through MK Movement, Muhoozi Kainerugaba has been actively organizing political rallies, extending greetings to the public, while his supporters persistently rally political backing for him. Notably, Muhoozi serves as an army officer, facing restrictions on engaging in direct political activities.

The transformation event gathered prominent figures, including key Museveni ministers Minister Godfrey Kabyanga, Frank Tumwebaze, NRM’s Vice Chairperson Eastern Capt Mike Mukula, members of parliament, and fervent Muhoozi enthusiasts.
