Comedian Anne Kansiime Says She Didn’t Graduate From Makerere University

Ugandan comedian Anne Kansiime recently opened up about her academic journey, dispelling the prevailing belief that she successfully completed her university studies. Despite the common assumption of holding a Social Sciences degree from Makerere University, the 36-year-old revealed that she faced challenges leading to her falling short of graduation, particularly due to retakes in two course units.

During a recent interview, Kansiime candidly shared her three-year academic experience, disclosing that she was unable to participate in the graduation ceremony owing to the unresolved retakes. Rather than confronting the situation directly, she chose to navigate around it, persuading her family to abstain from the ceremony, citing financial constraints as a reason.

“My dad was all about saving money, so anything to do with skipping an event saved him a penny,” humorously remarked Kansiime.

Despite her unconventional approach to handling her academic setback, Kansiime stands firm in her unapologetic stance regarding her education, emphasizing that her success in the entertainment industry speaks volumes. With her career reaching new heights and her comedic talent widely acclaimed, she sees little significance in dwelling on the absence of a university degree.

“I attended Makerere University, and my classmates can vouch for that,” she confidently stated. “And let’s be honest, I have no plans to venture into politics anytime soon. So, if I ever decide to run for office, feel free not to cast your vote in my favor!”
