Police authorities in Tororo are delving into the circumstances surrounding the tragic shooting of a senior officer by a junior counterpart. The deceased, identified as IP OKWELE MOSES, held the position of officer in charge at Petta police post, located in Petta sub-county within Tororo district.
Initial findings suggest that the suspect, identified as NO.23882 Sgt Ochom William Francis, also served at Petta police post alongside the victim. The incident unfolded following a minor quarrel between Ochom and his superior, during which Ochom reportedly succumbed to rage, fatally shooting Okwele four times in the abdomen.
After sustaining injuries to his legs, the suspect was admitted to Tororo General Hospital for treatment, while Okwele’s body was transferred to Tororo Main Hospital for postmortem examination.
D/SP Batumwa Charles, the Tororo district CID, confirmed the incident, assuring the public that investigations are actively underway to ascertain further details surrounding the tragic event.
