Bobi Wine, also known as Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, recently expressed his pride in maintaining sobriety for the past 12 years, refraining from alcohol consumption. In a friendly exchange with comedian Patrick Salvado, currently on a nine-day alcohol-free streak, Wine extended his support to Salvado’s endeavor to quit drinking.
Once associated with alcohol and weed, Bobi Wine consciously reset his lifestyle over a decade ago. Their conversation happened publicly when Salvado disclosed his ongoing commitment to abstain from alcohol, prompting Wine to offer guidance and support.
Highlighting the feasibility of sobriety, Bobi Wine referenced his own 12-year journey. Born on February 12, 1982, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu is a multifaceted figure, being a Ugandan politician, singer, and actor. He previously represented Kyadondo County East constituency in Parliament and heads the National Unity Platform political party.
In 2019, he declared his candidacy for the 2021 Ugandan presidential election, challenging incumbent Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, and raised concerns about electoral fraud despite official results indicating his defeat.
On December 14, 2021, he was confined to house arrest by the Ugandan government. Despite his arrest, he continued to protest, and upon being allowed to travel abroad, he unveiled, through a documentary, the corruption surrounding the 2021 election. Upon his return to Uganda on October 5, 2023, he was once again apprehended.
